Face wash for acne: Ideally you want a wash that has chemical exfoliants in the form of Alpha hydroxy acids or beta hydroxy acid. Mechanical exfoliates, like the gritty washes (apricot scrubs etc) cause irritation and can compound inflammation. Look for salicylic acid based washes or glycolic acid for a gentle exfoliation. These work by dissolving the goo that holds the dead cells on the surface of the skin.
