Hyperpigmentation: The question is what is the underlying cause of the discoloration. Usually some sort of inflammation precedes it. This could be due to an irritation due to chemicals or even some types of fungi. The best thing to do is wear a sunscreen on a daily basis until you have your skin evaluated to see what the underlying rash could be that is causing the hyperpigmentation.
