is 130 pounds at 5'8 considered underweight?

How do you FEEL?: The "healthy weight" tables you've seen are subscientific. Most elite runners and track-and-field athletes are "underweight" If you're trim and able to keep up with the sports you enjoy, you're fine.

Food is fuel: Different cars get different miles per gallon, and different people get more or less out of each calorie they eat. If your engine burns more calories, it will take more food to fuel you. Sometimes this is just your particular metabolism, and sometimes something can be wrong, like an overactive thyroid, that burns the calories you eat faster. Check with your doc or a dietician.

Yes: Yes. You are underweight since your ideal body weight is 135 pounds. You need to see a dietician to balance your diet and consider regular weightlifting exercise program.

A : A height of 5'3" and a weight of 95 lb correspond to a body mass index of 16.8. The normal bmi is considered to be between 18.5 and 24.9, so you fall into the "underweight" category.
It's not clear from your question whether your 40 pound weight loss was something you did on purpose or something that happened on its own. If you've been dieting and are now underweight, then it's probably time to let your calorie intake go up a bit. If, on the other hand, you've lost that weight without intending to, then you should probably see your doctor. Unintended weight loss can indicate hormonal imbalances or other problems that may need to be treated.
