What is happening to the nervous system in parkinson's disease?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Degenerative: It is thought that cells containing dopamine are slowly and steadily deteriorating, and as a consequence, symptoms of shaking, poor gait, even memory loss become apparent. It is also felt that the disorder presents pathologically in the brainstem first affecting the dorsal vagus and locus ceruleum early and later affects the basal ganglia. Deposition of Lewy Bodies becomes apparent within cells.
