It actually does not help. Alcohol will burn and cause damage to the tissues. You should cover it with a dressing to keep it moist and change it based on the amount. Remember, you should never put anything into a wound you would not put into your own EYE!! It may kill bacteria but only temporarily as there are so many bugs around that they will go back into the wound seconds after you use it.
