Bottles: Using the bottle at night is usually for security and not nutrition. You will need to find a substitute such as a blanket which must smell like mom to be effective because it is mom your child wants at night and not the bottle. After the blanket is adopted then gradually dilute the milk to plain water and it will be less necessary.

See Your Doctor: Persistent night bottle feeding in a 1 yr old may be caused by insufficient solid food consumption during the day and/or behavioral issues which include separation anxiety. Arriving at the cause can be complex, more info is needed eg. detailed dietary history, sleep patterns (past and recent), growth/developmental history, & more. See your doctor now for evaluation and intervention strategies.

Water only: If the kid is bottling at night it is for one of 3 reasons or all.Habit/hunger/comfort.If you put anything other than water in the bottle, you are resetting the bodies feeding clock and assuring the kid will do it again the next night for hunger. If you just use water, the kid will quit waking for hunger and you'll quit ruining the teeth. After a while the kid will get bored of the water and quit.
