A member asked:

How can you avoid having a heart attack? i know it's not likely for someone my age to have one, but how do i prevent it for the future?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Can't always avoid: Hi. Your genes play a huge role in your risk of an MI, and you're stuck with your genes. However, healthy living can really help lower risk: healthy diet, regular exercise, don't ever smoke, treat obvious modifiable risk factors (cholesterol, diabetes, high blood pressure), and see a doctor for health issues. Do your mom, dad, and/or any grandparents have a history of MI? Most of all, live healthy
