Many options: Irregular periods are one of the most common problems obgyns treat. If this is one time problem it usually resolves on its own. If this is a recurring problem you should be evaluated. Infections & hormonal changes can cause spotting. If there is a concern for pregnancy then do a home pregnancy test . There are many options available to help regulate the menstrual cycle. Pregnancy test?: It's always a good idea to take a pregnancy test if you have had sex and your period isn't normal. If the test is negative (and if your last unprotected sex was more than 14 days ago), then you can feel safe. Sometimes periods are late and irregular for no good reason. Sometimes it's stress, illness, travel, or weight changes. If it only happens occasionally, then I wouldn't worry.
