It depends: Many different antibiotics exist. Each has unique side effects & interactions. Always check with your doctor or pharmacist about the specific antibiotic you are taking.Severe side effects may occur when combining any amount of alcohol with metronidazole, tinidazole & bactrim (sulfamethoxazole and trimethoprim).Small amounts of alcohol are ok with most other antibiotics. If you have alcoholic liver disease no amount of alcohol is safe.

Nope: Drinking alcohol while taking antibiotics could possibly make the antibiotics less effective. Thus, your infection may not be treated properly and could last longer or even get worse. It's best to just avoid alcohol while you're on antibiotics just to be on the safe side.

No: Alcohol can affect the metabolism of antibiotic and can make the antibiotic less affective and in certain cases increase the probability of side affects too so one should not drink alcohol while on antibiotics.

That depends: Alcohol is not contraindicated with most antibiotics. Alcohol might be contraindicated for the condition you are being treated for. If you let us know which antibiotic you are taking, we can do a drug/food interaction check for it.
