"Normal Period": Most contraceptive pills come in 28 day varieties to mimic the "normal menstrual cycle" length. The bleeding from the pill is hormonal withdrawal bleeding to indicate that it is time to start a new pack. Some pills come in 3 month and 1 year lengths, and extends the withdrawal bleeding time to those intervals.
