Possibly: A D&C can be done at any stage, but if the pregnancy had not progressed to a point where a sac or embryo had been developing, then a D&C may not have been necessary.

Depends: It depends on the desires of the patient and the size of the fetus and sac. Its ot technically too early but some women prefer to "pass" and smaller pregnancy naturally. Occasionally this process is longer than expected and she will request a D&C . Larger pregnancies > 7-8weeks may cause a lot of bleeding and trips to the er so often a D&C is offered.
