Could be....: A pap smear is often performed when a pregnancy is confirmed to check for any dysplastic or malignant changes in the cervix, that might be more easily addressed earlier in the pregnancy than later. Likewise, the pap smear can also show features of specific infections that could be addressed during the pregnancy.
