Symptoms of menopaus: The most common symptom of the perimenopause (the 3-5 years prior to the final menstrual period) is irregular bleeding. Other symptoms include periodic hot flashes/flushes, including those that awaken you from sleep at night. Also vaginal dryness or mood swings can occur.
