None on recovery : Articular cartilage damage does not affect recovery, but you may have lingering pain after full recovery secondary to the cartilage damage depending on the degree of severity. It is likely that you will develop arthritis at some point many years down the road and may require further treatment. There are a few cartilage restoration techniques that could help if necessary.

Slows recovery: Meniscus tears resolve quickly after partial meniscectomy. The finding of cartilage damage puts a cloud over your recovery and ability to return to running. It will definitely slow it up to 6 weeks. The grade, location and size of the area of cartilage damage will ultimately come ino play. Articular damage often has no effect. Remain positive do physical therapy and listen to doc.
