I have polymyositis and myasthnia gravis, there is no cure?

Treatment only: There is no cure for myasthenia gravis or polymyositis, but there are treatments. In mg the immune system alters the receptor area of muscle making it difficult to complete neuromuscular transmission. In polymyositis there's an inflammatory response by the muscles to some insult. Isolated pm is rare, can be related to medications. Immune suppression plus Mestinon (pyridostigmine) for mg, immunosuppression for pm.

There is control: Each of these condiitons can usually be controlled but not cured. You need to have your therapy directed to control the diagnoses. There is no cure yet but we are always working for a cure. You need to keep yourself in the best shape as possible so that if the cure occurs you will be ready for it.
