Not a lot available: Google work of saperstein and levine, who have presented studies on small fibre nerve involvement in fibromyalgia. Also some info at mayo clinic and johns hopkins sites.

Good question: This type of neuropathy is associated with tingling and numbness, of the hands and feet. Often a neurologist will do a nerve conduction test and it will be negative. This is because the nerves effected are very small and cannot be picked up with this test. There is a good test to DX this: skin biopsy looking at nerve fiber density. Look for a neurologist specializing in neuropathy; they do this.
