Aspartame vs sugar: This is a very controversial topic these days as some research now suggests that diet drinks aren't all that healthy for you. Overall better not to drink soda at all. Perhaps try substituting sparkling water w/squeeze of lemon or lime for taste. Check out http://alvinblin.Blogspot.Com/2013/02/diabetes-risk-sugar-sweetened-vs.Html.

Healthy soda: Neither is particularly "healthy". Aspartame has nearly no calorie content, which is superior if you are trying to lose weight. There have been many large population studies, none of which have demonstrated any harmful affects of aspartame. The studies associating aspartame with obesity are very unclear and does not demonstrate causality.
