Fairly reliable: Home pregnancy tests are marketed with the oversight and approval of the fda. The use a proven technology, and if used correctly are usually reliable. Any laboratory test, even a blood test in a doctor's office or hospital, has a small false positive and small false negative rate. By "small" i mean very small in the case of pregnancy tests.
