Depends: Having a short period may not be anything significant. Some months are just different. It is important to keep track of your monthly periods .... Start and end date. How heavy was it? Cramps? Other symptoms? The overall big picture of your periods over several months will tell you more than just a one month glance. Birth control may have an effect on your periods ... Usually a beneficial effect.

Many possibilities: This can be normal and just indicate a lower hormone stimulation of the lining for that particular cycle. It could be abnormal and indicate an early pregnancy, stress, ovarian cyst, other hormone fluctuations or thyroid problems.
