Wait : If you have symptoms try Pyridium (phenazopyridine) which is an over the counter product that will help with the pain with urination and bladder irritability associated with an infection. You have not waited long enough for the antibiotic to work. If you still have symptoms after 3 days you should be re evaluated to make sure you have cleared the infection. Also, drink plenty of fluids this will help.

It won't help : Cipro (ciprofloxacin) has to be absorbed which takes a couple hours then filter through your kidneys. Which takes a couple more hours. 500mg twice a day is a big dose for a uti, so if it does not work in a day or two, you probably have a resistant strain of bacteria. However, you will not overdose by taking another cipro, (ciprofloxacin) you just might give yourself an upset stomach.
