Contamination: Depends upon the type of hepatitis, but generally from contamination of food or from blood or tissue fluids from someone who is infected. Also can be transmitted by intercourse.

This depends: There are several different forms of hepatitis. The most usual ones are the viral type but there are hepatitis a, b, c, d, e, and g. Of these a, b, and c re the most common. Hepatitis b is transmitted by contaminated blood or serum products including sharing needles, etc. Hepatitis c is also transmitted under similar circumstances including sexually.
