It depends: The differential diagnosis is wide. It could be something like a rib fracture or costocondritis. Other serious conditions like heart disease or pleuritic chest pain can also cause this. Alternatively, it could be something related to the esophagus although less likely. You need some tests or diagnostic work up to find out the cause.
