Possibly allergies..: From your description, your child's problem could be a result of allergies. The cough upon awakening can be a result of mucus that has dripped down her throat during the night and is being cleared in the morning. An evaluation by your child's 'pediatrician should help clear up the cause and direct proper treatment.
