Uti and MRSA: Trimethoprim sulfa, otherwise known as Bactrim (sulfamethoxazole and trimethoprim) or septra, can be used to treat certain urinary tract infections. It can also treat skin infections caused by mrsa. Intranasal ointment called bactroban can treat infections caused by strep or staph (impetigo).
