Couple of wks: Vasectomy does not involve repair of muscles like like hernia repair, so you can go back to weight lifting as soon as wound heals.

A week: Usually a weekend of minimal activity is sufficient rest after a vasectomy. But for people who are really athletic, i advise at least a week off heavy exercise. The rare guy that has real trouble after a vasectomy is the one that does too much too soon. If you exercise too soon, you risk bleeding into the scrotum and prolonging your recovery substantially. http://rasvas.com/faq.

Who knows?: A man after uneventful vasectomy should be able to resume weight lifting in 2 weeks. But experiencing mild discomfort during lifting may happen due to the cord muscle contraction at lifting to pull the still inflamed vasectomy sites. So, realistic understanding and expectation is an essential part of pre-vasectomy counseling.
