Encourage&support : Depression is one of the most common diseases and, one of the five most painful diseases of humankind, and one of the hardest to successfully treat, tv ads trivialize it. She needs encouragement to see a professional, not just a family doctor, if her depression is severe and/or seriously impacting her life. 15% of people with untreated major depression attempt serious suicide. Kindness: You're kind to want to help her with her depression. If she has not had a professional evaluation and diagnosis, that's a good place to start. A professional can determine whether she meets criteria for a depressive disorder. Her doctor will then work with her to develop a treatment plan to eliminate the problem. Ask her if there is anything you can do to help.
