Tricky question: Urticaria is common and can be acute or chronic. If the cause or trigger of the urticaria can be identified and avoided, then with avoidance the urticaria will not occur. Medications can decrease the itchy symptoms of hives but are not really considered a "cure." at this time, "cure" is difficult to find. Thankfully, the vast majority of patients with hives will have resolution!

Tough to say but: It really depends upon whether or not you have found a cause that triggers the hives. If so, then a cure comes from avoiding the item. Unfortunately most of the time allergists "look hard" but can't find the cause. However, over time , hives usually go away by themselves. Your immune system does the "healing." but until that happens taking anti-hiostamines can usually provide relief of itching.
