Variable: Bronchitis can be mild or very symptomatic, viral or caused other infectious agents. Recovery varies with the basic health of the kid & the cause. Many may cough for a month after the infection is cleared due to mucous flow issues during healing.Bronchitis can recur within the same year, annually or never again.

Days to weeks: Most experts agree that bronchitis does not occur in young children (except for whooping cough). Most commonly, when a diagnosis of bronchitis is made in a child, the actual problem is a viral upper respiratory infection that has triggered asthma. Improvement is usually much faster with inhaled asthma medication than with antibiotics. If it is asthma, it is likely to come back.
