A member asked:

How many cells does an embryo/blastocyst have before it implants? and how many days after its fertilized does it implant?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

About a week: Implantation generally occurs about a week after fertilization. By this time, the embryo is called a blastocyst, which is a ball of many cells (up to hundreds) divided into regions called the trophoblast (the part that will become the placenta) and inner cell mass (part that will become the baby).
