No benefits : Like so many other cosmetic procedures, a piercing may boost one's self confidence or self esteem because it may attract attention or be suggestive of sexually promiscuous behavior. The only benefit is for the use of inverted nipples in order to maintain projection and diminish skin fold irritation. It has not been shown to increase nipple sensitivity.

Nipple piercing : Does not enhance sexual pleasure ; regarding how good it looks - that is a matter of opinion. Nipple piercings have led to cellulitis ; abscesses. The jewelry can snag against clothing with potential of traumatic tears to the nipple. Additionally, scar tissue on the nipple or jewelry can block a milk duck ; in some cases make it more difficult to latch during breastfeeding.
