Is it safe to give an 8-year-old child ibuprofen every night for sleep aid?

Not really.: Reason is that Ibuprofen is an anti inflammatory medication and not a sleep medication. It is probably safe for nightly use, but my concern is, "what are you treating?" i would stop using it and make sure that his sleeplessness is not from an area of chronic pain.

Better not to do so: While we think of Ibuprofen as being rather safe, it is not good to take it every day. The bigger question is why an 8 year old needs a sleep aid. Are there school problems? Is his/her sleep pattern unusual? Talk to your child's doctor about what concerns you about your child's sleep routine. Generally kids should not need any medicine for sleep.
