Infection: This may due to several causes. Most common causes inlcude urinary tract infection, kidney infection, kidney stones, or urinary retention. Malodorous urine by itself does not neccessarily signify a problem in the absence of other findings. A urine test is needed to determine if there is a problem and to tailor the appropriate therapy.
