Yes: Stool color is not a very good predictor of either health or disease. The only big exception is very light-colored stools which can occur when the bile duct is blocked. But in that case the person's jaundiced color, especially notable in the whites of the eyes, makes it apparent that something's wrong. The looseness of your 16 Y.O.'s stool could mean an infection, which is likely transient.
