Pharmacist: Your friend got the Depo Provera (medroxyprogesterone) shot and should not need to continue to taking the pill. The shot will work over time however you can consult your pharmacist to talk about the soonest the medication will take over. Walgreens pharmacists among others are now consulting and can help wit specific questions about drug onset and interactions. Talk to your doctor if the bleeding does not slow down.
