What is the difference between implantation bleeding and your period? i've been bleeding on and off for a few days now what could this be?

Irregular bleeding: Bleeding "off and on" is not usually a period, but could be evidence of pregnancy, anovulatory cycles, anatomic problem, infection, or other. Implantation bleeding is usually very light and short in duration.
