May be the bactrim (sulfamethoxazole and trimethoprim): Sulfa from Bactrim may be the culprit for your rash. Okay to use Benadryl (diphenhydramine) or zyrtec. Need to confer with your doctor about continuing on Bactrim or using something else. Your doctor may want to stop all antibiotics and monitor your rash...

Sulfa allergy?: Talk to doc in am. New hives on abx with known potential for rashes is strong evidence that they are the cause. My bet: sulfameth/trimothoprim. Should be very sure that antibiotics are necessary and that they need to be continued. Benadryl (diphenhydramine) for now unless you develop serious signs or symptoms in which case ed is the right choice.

Hives, antibiotics: Suspect reaction to sulfa. See prescribing doc who will probably change antibiotic. Use benadryl/zyrtec & zantac (ranitidine) (combo hits both types of histamine receptor for faster resolution of reaction). Go to er if any mouth/tongue/throat swelling or difficulty breathing.
