Possible labor: Stripping the membranes is often an effective way of inducing labor in a term pregnancy. If you are having a brownish discharge and cramping 6 hours after having this done by your doc/midwife, it sounds as though it worked and you are in early labor! check in by phone with your provider.

Possible labor: It could be early labor with the cramping. The brownish/bloody discharge is normal and is called the bloody show. If the cramping becomes worse or starts coming at regular intervals call your doctor.
