Be preemptive : If you take an anti viral med when you start to feel the burning or tingling, before the outbreak, you cam mitigate the outbreak, having less severe symptoms. Valtrex (valacyclovir) works quite well taken early, when you are what we call prodromal.

With Antiviral, try:: In addition to antiviral medicine, you might try a high lysine diet (dairy, fish, legumes, meat, brewer’s yeast, wheat germ) it has an antiviral benefit. Avoid foods with arginine, which are needed by the herpes virus to grow itself; chocolate, peanuts and almonds are high in arginine and should be avoided. Foods with lysine vie with arginine for gut absorption. Sleep is a wonderful healer too.
