A member asked:

Could chronic body pain, like with fibromyalgia, be cause from histoplasmosis in someone who already has presumed ocular histoplasmosis?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Not necessarily.: Histoplasmosis is caused by a fungal infection and can be fatal if left untreated. On the other hand, fibromyalgia is a complex syndrome characterized mainly by chronic severe pain linked to physical or emotional trauma, possible viral infection, chronic fatigue, depression, lyme disease, hypothyroidism, and sleep disturbances. It is a long-term condition and is hardly fatal.
