Is it a phobia?: If the feeling is limited to when driving, under what conditions does it occur? In crowded traffic, fast traffic, bridges, tunnels, night time, only when alone in a car, when people in the car are telling you how to drive, when you are tired? Have you had an accident that was serious or scary? Others? If it can be identified, counseling would be helpful. If it continues, check with your physician.

Anxious--usually: People with anxiety disorder can get these feelings as can people with clinical depression as well as ptsd. Sleep-deprived individuals can be "hypnotized" into sleep while driving. More rarely forms of photo-sensitive epilepsy can experience subclinical seizure like events triggered by varying light intensities occurring in a rhythmic fashion.
