What is the average longevity for artificial veins used in coronary by pass?

8-12 years: Veins are said to last about 10 years. Arteries such as internal mamary or radials can last much longer. Ofcourse if you take good care of them, with no smoking, exercising, watching diet, keeping LDL <70, keeping sugars down, keeping weight down etc then I have patients whose vein bypasses have stayed open for 20+ years!

It varies: The average vein graft lasts 10 - 15 years , however some last much longer before occlusion may occur.
