Yes but...: "preexposure rabies shot" is indicated for individuals in high risk group, including veterinarian and animal handlers. And certain laboratory workers. Duration of protection is limited and booster immunization is required.

Yes: The vaccine used in pre and post exposure prophylaxis for rabies are the same. The main difference is the timing and the pre-exposure vaccine is slightly less than the post-exposure vaccine.
