Go to hospital now: Your boyfriend needs to be examined by his family doc (gp in gb) to determine what's going on. The lump could be a swollen lymph node, abscess (pus pocket), or even an inguinal hernia. Each diagnosis requires different treatment so it's imperative that rather than have someone guess (w/o examination from across the pond) that he get examined by his local family doc.
