A member asked:

Brown stringy blood on one side of tampon two weeks before expected period?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Midcycle spotting: Some women will spot for 1-2 days about 2 weeks before the next period is due. This is usually caused by the hormone changes of ovulation, and more often happens to women in late 30's or 40's. Other possibilities are cervical infection, cervical or uterine polyps, for instance, though bleeding from those causes can occur at any time in the cycle.
