Chlamydia treatment: Chlamydia is never resistant to azithromycin, but standard treatment (1 gram single dose) fails to cure ~5% of cases, especially in women or if rectum is infected (15% failure). Not due to antibiotic resistance, just that azithro sometimes doesn't penetrate very well to infected sites. Doxycycline for 7 days never fails and is the drug of first choice for those good at remembering to take pills.
