Sure: Sure. I wouldn't want to take a medication if there wasn't a medical indication. Some people are mentally healthy & some have mild symptoms. Their symptoms may respond to non-medication options. However, there are some people who are very symptomatic who do require psychiatric medications for their treatment.

Psychotherapy may be the treatment of choice, with medications offering only periodic, symptomatic relief. Some illnesses do need pharmaceutical treatment, and psychiatrists are trained to know what responds best to what.
