See a OB soon: An appointment with a ob-gyn is needed immediately to assess the status of the developing pregnancy and you, as the patient. If there are developmental abnormalities many can be corrected with the proper prenatal care at this point. Moreover, prenatal vitamins containing 1 milligram of Folic Acid are essential in early pregnancy to avoid neural tube(spinal cord) defects. Dr. W. W. Ingram.

Call for appt ASAP: It can sometimes take weeks to get in to see an OB provider so call now for an appointment. If there is a long delay or difficulty, ask a local hospital or board of health for referral. It is important to have a pregnancy test to see if pregnant, an ultrasound to evaluate the fetus and other tests in 2nd trimester. While waiting, read, start vitamin daily, eat well, avoid toxins, tobacco, alcohol.

Yes: Good prenatal care starts within the first 8 weeks. This allows your doctor to make sure it is a viable pregnancy and provide advice about the do's and don't's of pregnancy. Your doctor can go through your history and blood work to determine what you might need to do to improve your health to support a developing baby.
