Perhaps: Some focal motor and/or sensory seizures may not generalize, and the patient may stay quite alert. More commonly simple focal and complex focal seizures generalize and a loss of conscious awareness leaves, and amnesia for the event ensues. No one stays alert or aware with a generalized convulsion.
