???: Constipation and bowel obstruction are two completely separate things. If you have: distention, vomitting and can't keep anything down - head straight to the emergency room for further evaluation. That is obstruction. If however, you simply aren't going to the bathroom, and are not vomitting - then constipation. Can be seen in the office for further evaluation.
