That depends: My father took anti-hypertensive medications. He became an endurance athlete and lost weight and never needed blood pressure again. If your hypertension responds to efforts such as salt control, weight loss, physical activity etc. You may not require medications.

Yes most of the time: It depends but after life style modification like loosing weight, salt restriction.Dash diet, exercisising regularly do not help control elevated blood pressure.Once drugs are started and tolerated they need to be taken all your life in most cases.Of course there are rarely exception as life style modification may be successful and drugs may be reduced in dosage or stopped under medical supervision.
